  • Why is tackling in American Football that crucial?

Why is tackling in American Football that crucial?

The term “tackle” has a strong meaning in American football. It’s not just a physical action – it’s a pivotal skill that determines the efficiency of the whole defense. Whether it’s a form tackle in close quarters or an open-field trial to stop the enemy. Mastering the art of tackling requires not only technique but also the right methods and training equipment.

    What does Tackling mean?

In American football, a tackle is a defensive play when an athlete stops the ball carrier from advancing. Tackling is crucial to the sport, forming the basis of a defense’s ability to interrupt the opponent’s attack. Proper tackling is not just about bringing the enemy to the ground brutally and quickly – it requires certain technique, form, and safety. All of those play fundamental roles in ensuring successful execution of this maneuver.

Types of Tackles in American Football

There are multiple types of tackles, each adapted to specific situations on the field. Here are some common examples:

    1. Form Tackle: The most basic technique, where players hold their balance, wrap up the opponent, and drive them to the ground, controlling the course of the whole maneuver.
    2. Open-Field Tackle: Often happening in one-on-one situations in space, this tackle requires speed, angle control, and composed footwork.
    3. Shoulder Tackle: Used when defenders approach at an angle, this technique is based on leading with the shoulder while keeping a low stance and wrapping up the opponent.

Each of these tackling techniques requires lots of practice with proper equipment to build the right technique and ensure player safety.

Acknowledging the need for a coherent governing body, the European Federation of American Football (EFAF) was formed in 1993. EFAF has played a key role in the promotion of the sport across the continent, organizing championships and supporting the development of local leagues.

The EFAF organized the European Championships, a competition that gathered national teams from different countries to face each other. The tournament created a platform for European players to demonstrate their talents and gain international recognition. In addition, the EFAF worked to normalize rules and regulations, providing a coherent game in all countries.

    NFL Europe

One of the most important moments in the history of American football in Europe was the foundation of NFL Europe (formerly known as the World League of American Football) in 1991. This league was established by the National Football League (NFL) to reach the European market. NFL Europe featured teams from several countries, including Germany, Spain, and the UK.

Encouraging higher game standards and improved organizational professionalism in clubs was another plus.
Despite its successes, the EFL faced setbacks, among them financial difficulties for some clubs and competition from other rising leagues. These challenges resulted in the restructuring of the league and ultimately the establishment of a new competitions to maintain interest and involvement in the sport.

  • Steady and Safe Growth: The Only Way to Build Long-Lasting Team Performance

Steady and Safe Growth: The Only Way to Build Long-Lasting Team Performance

In the competitive world of sports, the desire to achieve quick success often overshadows the more critical goal of building a strong, lasting foundation. For American football teams, this means emphasizing the importance of constant growth and focusing on small, incremental steps that lead to long-term success. This approach has a key characteristic that is integral to every win – it cultivates a culture of discipline and continuous improvement.

The Importance of Small Steps in American Football

In the American football circle, we often hear about great matches and spectacular plays that make a team victorious. However, the foundation of success is not a single 60-yard pass in a crucial moment. Winning does not “happen” – it lies in small steps that are taken every day. Everyone, from athletes to coaches, should understand that lasting team performance is built progressively. This attitude ensures systematic and sustainable skill development, reducing the risk of burnout and long-lasting injuries. Day-by-day improvements in technique, strength, and understanding of the game lead to significant progress over time.

Safety First: Utilizing the Right Football Equipment

Injuries are common in a contact sport American football surely is. That’s why it’s so important that every single step in training and preparation is well thought out and safe. Using the proper gear, such as football helmets, pads, and field equipment, is essential. Safe football training is pivotal for long-term success and avoiding injuries that can impede athletes’ progress. Appropriately selected training gear leads to maximizing trainings’ efficiency, while ensuring that all the drills and exercises are performed in a safe manner.

The Role of Jambo Athletic Equipment

High-quality training gear plays a vital role in providing safe and steady growth for football teams. Jambo Athletic’s range of American football field equipment is designed with player performance and safety in mind. Our products allow teams to train to their fullest, alongside minimizing the injury risks. Here are a few examples of the best training gear:

Pop-Up Dummies: These training tools are perfect for practicing full-speed tackling and pass rush drills. Pop-up dummies simulate a realistic opponent, without the need of athletes to collide to ensure that all the exercises are performed safely.

Blocking Sleds: These tools help in building strength and endurance, crucial for linemen who need to develop power and resilience. Blocking sleds simulate the resistance on the line of scrimmage, helping players build the power and technique required for effective blocking and tackling.

Tackle Donuts: Ideal for agility and tackling drills, this gear ensures that players can perform dynamic training sessions. It allows players to tackle moving targets, enhancing their reaction times and tackling accuracy in a controlled environment.

    Strategies for Encouraging Steady Growth

To encourage steady and safe growth, coaches and team leaders can incorporate a few strategies:

Set Short-Term Goals: Break down your biggest objectives into smaller goals that can be achieved in a short period of time. This type of approach makes the road to success seem less discouraging and realistic to achieve. For example, rather than aiming to improve overall team performance in 5 months, focus on crucial aspects where your team lacks, like performing one more tackling drill every training session for the next month. Be as specific as possible. These kinds of smaller goals provide clear, measurable objectives for athletes to aim for.

Celebrate Small Wins: Appreciating and celebrating small victories can be like a motivation shot for your athletes. It matters a lot since it saves your players from burnout and keeps their attitude on constant growth. Publicly praising these achievements enhances the value of steady progress and motivates others to work for their own small wins.

Provide Constructive Feedback: Give your players honest opinions and tips to help them understand their progress and areas for improvement. This feedback should be specific, useful, and encouraging. Instead of vague comments like “Good job” or “You need to improve,” provide concrete information, such as “Your tackling technique needs improvement because you’re placing your head incorrectly. Let me show you what I mean”. It will help athletes understand what they’re doing wrong and how they can eliminate their weaknesses.

Planning and Discipline in Football Training

Every coach knows that planning is a key part of preparation. A training schedule should be realistic and tailored to the athlete’s capabilities. Focusing on small, daily progress yields better results than trying to achieve goals quicker than possible. Implementing consistent exercises, that gradually increase in intensity, allows safe progression of skills and fitness. A well-structured plan includes intense training, intertwined with adequate rest and recovery. Appropriate training not only leads athletes to peak form, but also prevents injuries.

Cooperation and Communication: Building a Strong Football Team

Creating a great atmosphere is a critical aspect of building a strong team. Regular meetings, game analysis, and competition, strengthen the team spirit. Joint activities not only motivate but also help build trust and friendships between the players. Effective communication among team members ensures that everyone contributes to common objectives.

Additionally, fostering a supportive environment, where players feel comfortable with sharing their thoughts and concerns, can lead to more innovative strategies and stronger team cohesion. It can also help to identify problems and find solutions.

Leveraging Technology for Better Football Training

Technology is playing a bigger and bigger role in sports nowadays. Video analysis, fitness monitoring tools, and specialized apps can significantly increase the quality of training. Using technology allows us to track the progress precisely and adjust training to the athletes’ needs. Tools such as condition monitoring devices and performance analysis software provide valuable insight into an athlete’s capacity and areas to improve.

In particular, video analysis can be a massive advantage. By reviewing footage of practices and games, coaches and players can identify weaknesses, improve their techniques, and get in depth of opponents’ strategies.

Emulate the Legends: Top Examples of Constant Growth via Titanic Work

The history of American football has seen many players who achieved mountaintops through iron discipline and hardwork. Let’s recall such legends as Tom Brady and Jerry Rice. Their careers are proof that consistent, small steps result in great achievements.

Tom Brady’s beginnings weren’t easy (He was not selected until the sixth round of the 2000 draft by the New England Patriots – as the 199th player). Nevertheless, his rigorous approach to the training, diet and recovery resulted in 7 Super Bowl Championships (5x MVP) and 3 regular season MVP titles.

Jerry Rice is commonly considered the best wide receiver in NFL history. His pursuit of superiority was evident in every moment he spent on the field, from practices to games. Rice has won three Super Bowl titles, has been selected to the Pro Bowl 13 times, and his records for number of passes received, yards and touchdowns by a wide receiver remain unbroken.
That’s the power of discipline and hard work!

Balancing Training and Rest for Optimal Performance

When it comes to long-term exceptionality, a proper recovery is as important as intensive training. Human body needs some time to regenerate after exertion and prepare for new challenges. The unbalanced training, without adequate recovery, can lead to strains and injuries. Therefore, scheduling appropriate rest periods is vital. Ensuring proper sleep and diet is crucial to maintaining adequate recovery for the players.

Regeneration techniques like ice baths, massages, and saunas also play a huge role in keeping athletes in optimal shape. If you want to learn more about rest and recovery of American football Athletes, click here!

Mental Preparation: A Quiet Provider of Football Success

While physical training is pivotal, mental preparation is sometimes even more important. Developing a strong psyche helps players keep their mind sharp, cope with pressure and remain confident. Working with sports psychologists or mental coaches can give athletes the tools to handle stress and enhance their mental toughness.

Teams that emphasize mental preparation along with physical training often report better results in a shorter amount of time.

Conclusion: Embrace Small Steps for Great Success in American Football

As in any other sport, lasting success in American football is achieved through consistent work on the field and outside it. Systematic work, proper rest and diet, and attention to safety are the cornerstones to build long-term team performance. Every great player started from the basics some day, comes out that the key to success is always discipline and determination.

  • How American Football Players Optimize Training and Recovery to Prevent Injury

How American Football Players Optimize Training and Recovery to Prevent Injury

American Football is a sport that requires both enormous amounts of physical effort and strategic mindset. To stay at the highest level of performance and avoid injury, athletes have to properly balance intensive training with effective recovery.

The Importance of Sleep in Players’ Recovery

Sleep plays a vital role in the recovery process of American Football athletes. While sleeping, the body goes through a broad range of repair and restoration processes that are crucial for maintaining optimal physical health. A quality deep sleep also supports the production of growth hormone, which helps muscle regeneration and the tissue reparation process. Sleep affects the immune system as well, which plays an important role in preventing infections and injuries.

To ensure you get the right amount of sleep (not just as a professional football player), it’s a good idea to use some tactics. This includes: setting a consistent sleep schedule, avoiding caffeine and alcohol before bed, and creating a proper sleeping environment by darkening your room, airing it out and keeping it at the right temperature.

Massages and Stretching in Avoiding Injuries

Massage and muscle stretching are essential elements of recovery for American Football athletes. Regular massages help loosen tense muscles and improve flexibility, which reduces the risk of injury. Moreover, the massage stimulates blood and lymph flow, which accelerates the transfer of nutrients to the tissues and the elimination of metabolic products.

Stretching muscles after training or a game helps prevent excessive muscle contraction and reduces the risk of strains and ruptures. Regular stretching improves muscle flexibility, which allows for a wider range of motion and decreases the risk of muscle strain injuries.

American Football athletes often use massage therapists’ and physiotherapists’ services in order to keep their bodies in optimal condition. Their help includes deep massage, relaxation massage and various stretching methods. Regular use of those recovery techniques is a key to avoiding injury and staying physically capable on the field.

The Importance of a Suitable Diet in Maintaining Physical Condition

Proper nutrition has a crucial role in maintaining high performance during training as well as in preventing injuries during American Football matches. A balanced diet rich in protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals provides the body with the necessary nutrients required for muscle regeneration, tissue reparation and keeping the immune system functioning properly.

American Football athletes make sure to have regular meals rich in protein (meat, fish, eggs), good carbohydrates (whole grains, vegetables and fruits), and healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts, seeds). In addition, proper hydration is critical to maintaining proper muscle function and preventing cramps and injuries. That’s why American Football players regularly drink adequate amounts of water, especially during intense training and games. The appropriate amount of fluids consumed daily by athletes is more than 4 liters.

    Proper Strength Training and Mobility

Strength and motor training plays a key role in American Football players’ physical preparation and avoiding injuries. Properly planned and performed strength exercises are designed to increase muscle power, joint stability and improve physical performance on the field. Furthermore, mobility training features exercises that improve coordination, balance and responsiveness. It’s essential to maintaining a high level of mobility and preventing injuries related to incorrect movement.

American Football players often use a wide array of training methods such as strength workouts, stamina training and training with specific field equipment such as the Tackle Sled or Blocking Sled to increase their strength, velocity and flexibility.

As part of the mobility training, players perform plenty of exercises using equipment such as Step-Over Bags to improve their movement skills and increase their agility on the field.

The right field equipment allows athletes to simulate match situations during training and prepare players for real clashes on the field. If you are looking for field equipment for your team, you should definitely check out JAMBO Athletic’s offer.

Regular strength and mobility training, properly tailored to an athlete’s individual needs and goals, as well as exercises with appropriate field equipment, are key elements in preventing injuries and maintaining high performance on the gridiron.

    Other methods

In addition to the methods described above, athletes can also use other recovery techniques. These include cryotherapy (cold treatment to reduce pain and swelling), sauna, acupuncture, compression therapy, hot baths with mineral salts, or various breathing techniques. Each of these methods can have a beneficial effect on players’ physical and mental condition, helping to avoid injuries and keep performance high on the field.

Choosing the right recovery methods should be tailored to the athlete’s individual needs and preferences, and take into account the characteristics of training and exercise intensity. A combination of different recovery methods can be the key to maintaining optimal physical form and preventing injuries among American Football players.

Another essential element is practice using proper field equipment. If you’re looking for gear for your team, click here and take a look at JAMBO Athletic’s offerings. Join over 600 teams all over Europe that are satisfied using our field Equipment!

  • The Future of Football: Is This Sport Too Dangerous and Violent?

The Future of Football: Is This Sport Too Dangerous and Violent?

American football has long been known for its exciting combination of sheer athleticism, strategy and wild power. However, the sport has also been met with growing concerns over the inherent dangers and injury risks to athletes. As the debate over football’s future continues, it’s essential to answer the questions: “Isn’t this sport too dangerous? Is there anything we can do to make it a little safer?”

    The Nature of American Football

Football is an inherently contact sport, meaning that physical collisions and confrontations are simply a part of the game. This nature of the sport can lead to injuries ranging from minor bruises to serious brain concussions. The effect of these injuries has resulted in debates about the future of Football and whether it is too dangerous for players, especially young, inexperienced athletes.

    Common Injuries in Football:

Concussions and traumatic brain injury: Concussions are among the most serious injuries in football, often resulting from helmet-to-helmet collisions. These injuries can lead to long-term cognitive impairment and increase the risk of developing a degenerative brain disease, called CTE.

    – Knee and Ligament Injuries: Football athletes often experience torn ligaments. This kind of injury can even threaten a player’s whole career. It also requires long and intensive rehab.

    – Fractures and dislocations: High-speed collisions can result in breaking bones and dislocating joints. These injuries can sideline players for long months (or even years).

    – Muscle strains and sprains: These are commonly sustained due to the rapid moves and physical demands of the sport. Although often less serious, they can still impact on an athletes performance and may require a significant recovery time.

The increasing understanding of such risks has led to urges for changing the way the game is played and athletes are trained.

    Evolving Safety Measures in Football

The community of American football has responded to concerns of safety with a variety of steps to reduce the risk of injuries. Changes to rules, such as those relating to helmet-to-helmet hits and crackback blocks, are meant to protect players during matches. However, awareness is growing that safety must also be prioritized during training

    The Role of Training Equipment

Using proper field equipment is vital in preparing athletes for the physical demands of the sport. Top-quality gear can simulate real-game situations alongside minimizing the injury risks when performing the drills.

A variety of equipment, for example: pop-up dummies, blocking sleds and tackling donuts, is designed with athlete safety in mind. These tools help players build the necessary skills and muscle memory to perform effectively on the field, while reducing the chances of getting injured.

    For instance:
    – Pop-Up Dummies simulate real-game tackling situations, allowing players to practice proper technique without the high impact of player-to-player contact.
    – The blocking sled helps build strength and endurance while teaching players how to safely absorb and deliver hits.
    – Tackle Donuts allow players to perform tackling drills on the object in move, so they can practice proper head positioning when attacking an opponent.

This is where Jambo Athletic comes into play. As the first manufacturer of Football training equipment in Europe, Jambo Athletic is leading the way in delivering the best solutions that enhance both players’ capacity and safety.

This psychological benefit can result in a significant boost in performance on the field.

The Future of Football with Enhanced Safety Features

The future of football lies in balancing the excitement of the game with the safety of the players. By utilizing advanced training equipment (such as that from Jambo Athletic), teams can ensure that their athletes have the best injury prevention. These innovations also improve overall performance, allowing players to train more effectively and confidently.

    Looking Ahead

    – Continuous Technology Progress: With the development of technology, field equipment will become even more effective, ensuring better training efficiency.

    – Greater Focus on Awareness: Educating coaches, players and parents on the importance of using high-tech training equipment and following safety measures will be a key element in creating a brighter future for American Football athletes

    – Cooperation at Various Levels: A standardized safety approach can help normalize best practices and assure that all players take advantage of the latest improvements in training gear.

    Conclusions

  • European League of Football: The Best League Outside America?

European League of Football: The Best League Outside America?

In recent years, the popularity of American Football has surged beyond the borders of the United States. The European League of Football (ELF) represents a new era for American Football on the old continent, with 17 teams vying for supremacy. As interest in the sport continues to grow and the level of competition intensifies, many are beginning to ask: Is the ELF the best league outside America?

The Rise of the European League of Football

The creation of the ELF was spearheaded by Patrick Esume, who had long criticized the American Football Association of Germany (AFVD) for failing to capitalize on the sport’s growing fanbase. Esume envisioned a professional structure that would bring the excitement of American football back to Europe, reminiscent of the NFL Europe days.

Established in 2021, the ELF features teams from various countries, including Germany, Poland, Spain, and Austria, and has quickly gained in popularity, attracting a wide audience.

A Mix of Experience and Talent

One of the key factors contributing to the ELF’s reputation is the quality of play. The league has successfully recruited top talents from all the world, including former NFL players and college stars. However, the greatest emphasis is on harnessing European players who show the most talent and potential. This blend of experience and raw talent has resulted in a highly competitive and entertaining league.

Players like wide receiver Anthony Mahoungou, who previously played in the NFL, and quarterback Zach Edwards, who has set records in European football, have become household names within the European League of Football. Their presence not only elevates the level of competition but also inspires local players to improve their game, raising the overall standard of the league.

Every player of the league has to maintain peak performance in order to dominate the European League of Football. It is able to be achieved due to proper training programs, featuring drills and exercises that can only be executed with the proper field equipment. We are proud that many ELF teams, including Rhein Fire (ELF 2023 winner), Panthers Wrocław or Fehérvár Enthroners utilize Jambo Athletic’s gear in preparations to every game during the season.

If you are looking for top-quality EU-made training equipment, simply click this link and check Jambo offerings.

    Strategic Partnerships and Expansion

The ELF’s success can also be attributed to its strategic partnerships and expansion plans. The league has collaborated with various organizations to enhance its visibility and reach. Notably, it has secured broadcasting deals with major networks across involved countries, ensuring that games are accessible to a wider audience.

Furthermore, the ELF has ambitious expansion plans, aiming to include more teams from different European countries. This strategy promotes the sport across the continent and nurtures a new generation of American football enthusiasts.

    Fan Engagement and Community Building

The ELF places a strong emphasis on creating a community of fans. By leveraging social media and other digital platforms, the league actively interacts with its audience, providing behind-the-scenes content, player interviews, and live game updates. This approach has helped cultivate a dedicated fan base that is deeply invested in the league’s success.

In addition to digital engagement, the ELF organizes various events and activities to bring fans closer to the action. From fan meet-and-greets to interactive game-day experiences, these initiatives foster a sense of community and loyalty among supporters.

    Comparison with Other Non-US Leagues

When evaluating the ELF’s status as the best league outside America, it’s essential to consider how it compares to other international leagues. The Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Japanese X-League each have unique strengths and established histories, but the ELF stands out due to its rapid growth, high-quality play, and strategic vision.

The CFL, with its rich history and unique rules, has long been considered the premier football league outside the US. However, the ELF’s European flair, combined with its modern approach to marketing and expansion, offers a fresh and exciting alternative that appeals to a wide audience. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on.

Similarly, the X-League in Japan has made significant strides in developing the sport domestically. Yet, the ELF’s diverse roster of international players and its focus on pan-European growth provide a broader appeal, positioning it as a leading force in the global football landscape.

    Challenges and the Road Ahead

Despite its success, the ELF faces several challenges. Ensuring financial sustainability, maintaining competitive balance among teams, and continuing to attract top talent are critical factors that will determine the league’s future. However, the ELF’s proactive approach and commitment to growth suggest a promising trajectory.

Looking ahead, the ELF aims to solidify its position as the best league outside America by expanding its reach, enhancing the quality of play, and fostering a deeper connection with fans. With its innovative spirit and passion for the sport, the European League of Football is poised to make a lasting impact on the world of American football.

    Conclusion

The European League of Football has quickly established itself as a formidable force in the world of American football. Through high-quality play, strategic expansion, and dedicated fan engagement, the ELF is making a compelling case as the best league outside America. As it continues to grow and evolve, the ELF not only showcases the global appeal of American football but also serves as a beacon for the sport’s future international success.

For those looking to elevate their training and performance, consider investing in top-tier field equipment from the Jambo store, trusted by the ELF’s top-tier teams.

    CROWDFUNDING FOR FOOTBALL FIELD EQUIPMENT

All teams in sports want to improve, as this is the main principle of sports in general – getting better. The aim of every organization is to have better results, but not every single one focuses on the same aspects. • Continuous strive to support perfection

    Continuous strive to support perfection

With more than half of major European American football leagues already underway and GFL, BIG4 and CEFL opening within weeks it is hard not to be excited about football being back on the field for 2018.
As preseasons are over for some of the teams that focus on facing their next opponents and having the best possible game plans ready to get the “W”, the others, who start their game action a little later in the year (some leagues and second, third division teams) are getting back on the gridiron to get back in football shape. Regardless of where your team is at right now, the one thing is accurate for sure – practice field is getting crowded with players, who strive for perfection on the field putting in the work that will pay off on game days. And whether you are a president, coach, player, sponsor or just a fan – let’s look at a range of field equipment that has lately taken the European market by storm and could be worth considering for your team in order to make preparation more effective.

Every practice session matters and it is crucial to utilize the time you are given in the most effective way possible. Therefore teams have started to invest in high quality field equipment that helps their players develop skills and make it easy for coaches to facilitate drills that imitate real game action best. A great example of such equipment is a Pop-up dummy which is designed to safely provide full extension on tackling and release drills. Its greatest advantage is the fact that it resets itself on its own and requires no assistance from players or coaches and allows them to fully focus on proper technique of each player in the drill instead of bringing it to starting position. JAMBO Athletic is the only European-based manufacturer of such product and our 55-kilo version of it has been trusted by many. JAMBO Athletic field equipment has been used by over 130 teams in 19 countries in Europe, among which we also support National Teams, including Poland, Croatia and The World Games Wroclaw 2017 Champion – France.

Although the abovementioned equipment is great and unique, American football is played by over 1500 teams on our continent on many different levels. While the best teams competing in top national and international leagues try to chase the training infrastructure teams have in the United States, there are many teams that lack some of the more basic  field equipment. JAMBO Athletic proudly supports those teams offering a wide range of hand-shields and tackle dummies coming in different shapes and sizes to maximize the utility in practice and optimize the price for teams’ needs and budgets. Another basic and very popular field equipment is JAMBO Athletic Step Over Bag that is used by teams to improve player quickness, agility, balance, and coordination. If you order a version with a shield option, you can use one item as both, step-over and a shield, which makes it a great value for money. But not only have the small teams appreciated the good quality to price ratio of our step over bags – they have been used by the top teams as well, including most recent IFAF Europe Champions League Champion and 2016 and 2017 Polish Topliga Champion Panthers Wrocław.

Apart from selling equipment to teams, JAMBO Athletic actively supports spreading the knowledge and awareness of the game of American Football through acting as partner for various skill camps and coaching clinics across the continent. One of the two we recently participated in was the London Breakthrough Camp organized by the Podyum, which included professional coaching clinic, skill camp and professional combine. The most recent we partnered for was AFWB CAMP Portugal 2018 hosted by Algarve Sharks and American Football Without Barriers, which was a training camp for youth and adults that featured NFL Players, including Oakland Raiders Running Back Marshawn Lynch. It has been a great experience and pleasure for us to take part in such great events – naturally, the participants had a chance to try out JAMBO Athletic field equipment in action.

Another piece of equipment that has lately been a hit is JAMBO Athletic Tackle Donut. While regular dummies could only stand still and teammate tackling drills often took its toll in injuries, this item allows players to safely tackle a moving object and is wanted by many coaches on all levels, especially in organizations having junior programs, but also in the best programs in Europe, including 2017 Swedish Super Serien Runner-up Örebro Black Knights. JAMBO Athletic also offers Landing Mats, which are great for players’ safety both, indoors and outdoors.
JAMBO Athletic is also trying to go the extra mile to provide teams with all they need, therefore apart from training field equipment we are offering products that can be used by teams on game days. In order to have your team meet all safety regulations and proudly present your team colors and logo, you can use JAMBO Athletic Goal Post Pads. They are 200cm tall and the width can be adjusted depending on the size of the posts of the goals you have on your home stadium. We also encourage you to check out our Chain Set & Down Indicator – this set is a must on game day! In our offer you can also find JAMBO Athletic Equipment Bags in 3 different options – it is always easier to carry your footballs and small size practice accessories in a bag. You can also consider getting bags for your players – just imagine how intimidating it would be if you showed up on your opponent’s field with all your players carrying a team-colored equipment bag.
JAMBO Athletic has provided top quality field equipment to over 130 teams in 19 countries in Europe (Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland). We take pride in what we do and happily support our customers to strive for perfection on the field. For the full list of teams that have trusted us, please go here and feel free to take your own spot on that list.

  • JAMBO Practice – Hand Shields and Drills

JAMBO Practice – Hand Shields and Drills

It is hard to imagine a modern training in any kind of sport without equipment. Great investment or a large space is not always essential for an effective training and comprehensive development.
As a very complex sport American football draws training’s inspirations from practically all sports’ disciplines, from martial arts to tennis. The key to the great psycho-physical development of any athlete is the variety of different sports, techniques and training methods.
Hand Shields are absolutely versatile and universal training aid and a good economic solution, which can be used during training, at any position in the American football.
You can find here a very simple exercise that combines physical coordination, that requires an absolute concentration on the details.
To do this exercise you will need a coach and the Hand Shield.
Divide the Hand Shield into several zones clockwise or counter-clockwise. Each zone should have its own number – from 4 to 7 zones (zone 7 is exactly the middle of Hand Shield).

The main goal of the athlete facing the coach in the 2-point stance position is to hit or touch (the technique depends on the position and expectations) the numbered zones, according to the combination given by the coach.
You should start with the 4 numeral combinations, for instance: 3142 or 2314
The exercise should be performed continuously until it is stopped by the coach. When the player makes a mistake during this exercise, he must return to the specified combination as soon as possible. Exercise is replaced by a new combination when the competitor has mastered the previous one, performs it automatically and achieved the level of concentration that we expected.
Due to the player’s development, we can add the next zone (zone 5,6,7) or increase the amount of combinations, for instance 41324 or 21231 and so on.
This exercise does not require a lot of time, 3-4 minutes, 2 times a week and will give excellent results after about 2-3 workouts, compared to the first workout.
I recommend athletes to record the first, third and fifth training session to observe how quickly they have improved their speed, accuracy of an impact, and the improvement of target’s concentration techniques and exclusion of external stimuli.
After exercising regularly you will see the biggest improvement in the rate of Defensive and Offensive linear reactions in direct combat.

  • Tackling: essential skill in American Football

Tackling: essential skill in American Football

Developing effective and safe tackling skills is one of the major tasks of defensive coaches in American football. The most reliable help in this type of exercises is proper equipment, including Pop Up Dummy and Tackle Donut.

Why the Tackle Donut Is Becoming Essential in American Football Training

For many years, pop-up dummies have been a standard tool in European American football training. They support a wide range of drills and help coaches teach proper contact technique. In recent seasons, the Tackle Donut has followed a similar path, quickly gaining popularity among clubs outside the United States.

The growing interest in the Tackle Donut comes from its ability to recreate realistic game situations. Unlike static equipment, the donut rolls unpredictably across the field. This movement forces defenders to read direction, adjust pursuit angles, and finish tackles under pressure. As a result, players develop better reaction speed, balance, and tackling accuracy.

TACKLE TUBE / TACKLE DONUT DRILLS

One of the most effective drills using the Tackle Donut focuses on defensive reaction and angle control. The setup is simple and efficient. One coach, one player, and one Tackle Donut are all that is required. The coach positions the defender based on position group. Defensive linemen typically align at four yards, linebackers at six yards, and defensive backs at eight yards or more.

The player begins in a stance chosen by the coach, such as a two-point stance, three-point stance, or quick-feet position. Without a prior signal, the coach pushes the Tackle Donut in different directions and at various angles. The defender must react instantly, redirect, break down properly, and complete a clean tackle.

A second variation increases difficulty and realism. The coach stands directly in front of the defender while rolling the Tackle Donut behind the player on a signal. After a short reaction movement, the defender recovers, adjusts the pursuit angle, and finishes the tackle. Coaches can vary angles to simulate inside runs, outside runs, or cutback lanes.

This type of training makes the Tackle Donut a valuable addition to modern American football training equipment.

    Tackle Donut

The goal of this exercise from coach’s point of view is to observe the progress of the reaction to the movement simulating the individual plays on the court – inside, outside run, off-tackle, pursuit drill etc. Not only does the player have the chance to improve tackling performance in a safe way, but also to develop the effective techniques of instant response in the arbitrary directions.
